None of the leaves of this plant were left by this time. Only some seed pods remained.

Butterfly weed in March 1997.
This butterfly weed on the other side of the house had been pruned back and allowed to to grow out again. There were no resident caterpillars when the photograph was taken. Some ferns are growing nearby.
