March 1998 - Coontie
The plant at the lower left in
this recent photograph is a coontie
(Zamia pumila), a Florida native
cycad. We kept it as a potted plant
for more than a year and then
planted it in February in this
location where it will receive
some shade from a fig tree
during the warmer months
of the year.
