April 4, 1997. Flowers have appeared on the allspice tree and on a yarrow plant.

The green buds seen in the photograph are actually less than one-eighth inch in diameter.
April 20, 1997. There are a number of flowers on the yellow poplar tree. Flowers have recently appeared on our potted guava tree. There is a bud on one of the columbine plants.

April 20, 1997.The agapanthus plants have begun to flower.

April 30, 1997. Very little wind at dawn today. The scent of the night-blooming jessamine remained in the garden for a brief time after sunrise until the flowers closed for the day.
