Tibouchina: Flower and foliage. June 11, 1997.

The tibouchina with its its interesting leaves and attractive flowers is one of our favorite landscape plants.

We have five tibouchina plants in the garden. All are growing in partial shade locations and are doing well. The flower pictured above was on a plant growing under a laurel oak tree.

Regular pruning is needed if it is desired to keep these plants in a compact shape. We have not been diligent about this. Most of our tibouchina plants have a loose, open, treelike form; but they still look good where they are situated.
