June 1997 - Sweetbay Magnolia and Yellow Poplar

All of the flowers that appeared on our yellow poplar (also named tulip tree) were located on the upper branches. A twig with one of the flowers was cut down to facilitate photography.

Our tree is still relatively young. We did not expect it to flower for the first time as early as this year.

Both the sweetbay magnolia and the yellow poplar are in the magnolia family.
