The Central Florida Amateur Gardener

Home Page

Welcome to our Web pages about gardening in Central Florida. We began a garden in a town about 25 miles northwest of Orlando when we were relatively new to Florida. We were interested in finding out which of the more interesting flowering trees and other ornamental plants do well in this area. Our observations along with photographs taken in the garden were presented in a series of monthly newsletters that started with the August 1996 issue. An electronic garden tour in installments can begin (below) in this home page with a look under a camphor tree. A directory of accessible newsletters is located under the photograph.

Under a Camphor Tree
June 1997

The camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora ), a natural source of camphor, is native to the Far East. Our camphor tree provided a shady spot to relax and cool off.
